Trove Tuesday - Old Man's Long Walk!

I came across this article, published in The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954), Thursday 17 November 1927, page 12, while doing some local research.  I am not related to anyone in this article, but I was very touched by the thought of a 74 year old man walking 300 miles to visit his mother's grave.

PILGRIMAGE TO GRAVE

WAGGA, Wednesday.

Robert Pritchard, aged 74 years, arrived at Wagga to-day carrying his swag. He had walked from Parramatta to Wagga, a distance of about 300 miles, for the purpose of visiting the grave of his mother at the Wagga cemetery.

Pritchard has made this pilgrimage annually for the past few years.
